Design Guidelines

Below are some general guidelines for designing and saving your artwork. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call for assistance.
Safety Margins
All templates include a red box within the template. The is your “content safe” area for all text and important images. Having your important elements fall outside of these areas can result in content being trimmed off or fall directly on a fold.
Folds
If your background images has fonts that pass over a fold line, it is important not to have your font smaller than 1o pt. as it can be hard to read after creasing.
Fonts
For us to have your fonts appear correctly, you will need to do one of the following:
  • Include all font files used in separate folder
  • Outline all fonts (Illustrator)
  • Rastorize all fonts (Photoshop)
Only one of the above is necessary. Do not use fonts smaller than 6pt as they do not print well. We recommend saving your source file as a new file once you do this. Once the fonts are rastered or outlined, they can not be edited.
Cutlines
The blue lines show approximately where the artwork will be trimmed. The template has a 1/8” margin of error (red box) for trimming your project.
Bleeds
If any of your background artwork falls outside of the red box, then it is important to extend these images to the green dashed Bleed line. With the 1/8” margin, any colors not extending to the green dashed lines could result in white trim showing on the final cut.
