Why should I choose onediscmore?
Good question. With so many companies offering similar producsts, we choose us? Great quality printed with equipment under 2 years old, competitive pricing that is industry best (make sure to compare apples to apples), and very helpful staff of professionals who are ready to assist with each step of the process. We have no salespeople. You deal directly with the Project Manager every step of the way.

How can the prices be so inexpensive?
We can only say, "Why do the other charge sooo much"? We are a lean mean printing machine. No multi-levels of management. No expense accounts. No high overheads. We are a handful of people with decades of experience in the multimedia industry who appreciate your business and will go the extra step to get your project done and out the door.

Is your printing top quality?
We are a lean mean printing machine because we use the newest processes. We are unhindered by old printing equipment and antiquated processes. Your final print with be produced with state-of-the-art printing equipment from Canon and Talon printers.

Is my credit card charged before my project is approved?
You will be billed upon checkout. This starts our process and gets your job into our print queue. The order is not finalized until you approve your proof, so you can cancel anytime up to that point. Once your proof is approved, the order can not be changed.

What are the most common problems that occur?
The speedbumps are in the details. One of the main issues that we run into is the final file submission. It is important to follow the template guidelines for placement, text content, bleeds, and most importantly- FONT. Read the guidelines on the Template page and consult with your Project Manager if you have any issues. We prefer PSD, EPS, or PDF for file submission. We also take hi-res JPEG for your disc artwork submission (remember to turn off template layer when saving). Please do not send inDesign, Quark, or Publisher files. Export these to High Quality PDF.

Artwork Proof

What types of proofs are available?
We offer a free digital PDF proof for both disc and packaging. Hard copy proofs are available for a fee depending on your project type and size. Please contact your Project Manager to setup a hardcopy proof.

What is a PDF proof?
A PDF proof is a digital file that will allow you to see represenattive color, trim, bleed, and general layout. The color is representative since each users monitor shows color differently than the actual printed surface. Talk to your Project Manager abotu any color concerns you may have. The vast majority (98%) of our customers choose digital PDF proof.

When and how do I receive the PDF proof?
Once your place your order and upload your artwork, you will receive a PDF proof within one hour for your approval. The project timeline does not start until you have approved your proof.

Design

What is bleed?
Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet after trimming. The bleed is the part on the side of your document that gives the printer that small amount of space to move around paper and design inconsistencies. Our bleed requirements are 1/8 of an inch from where the cut is to be made.

What is cutline?
A PDF proof is a digital file that will allow you to see represenattive color, trim, bleed, and general layout. The color is representative since each users monitor shows color differently than the actual printed surface. Talk to your Project Manager abotu any color concerns you may have. The vast majority (98%) of our customers choose digital PDF proof.

Whats the difference between CMYK and RGB?
In short: CMYK is subtractive color mostly used in print, while RGB is additive color mostly used in display graphics. The name of the CMYK color model stands for Cyan (a pale blue) Magenta (a hot pink), Yellow, and Key (or black). The name of the RGB color model stands for Red, Green, and Blue.

CMYK, or 'four color printing', is what is called a 'subtractive' color model, because it starts with white - such as paper - which is the combination of all colors, and filters of subtracts out those colors not wanted by the application of colored dyes or inks. Using combinations of these ink colors in varying amounts will produce the various colors needed for a picture or graphic. Equal amounts of yellow and cyan, for instance, produce a standard, medium green. Key black is added to the four color printing process because the combination of cyan, magenta, and yellow in practice produce a 'black' that looks more like a dark muddy brown.

RGB is called an 'additive' color model because it starts with the absence of light or color - black - as one would find in a television screen or computer monitor with no power, and adds light in colors as needed.

Many printers use 3 colors for their disc face, how many do you use?
It incorporates unique Greyscale Inkjet Printheads technology which offers 8 levels of dot sizes. This creates images of higher apparent print resolutions than is possible with conventional binary inkjet technology without
compromising print speed.

What color is your disc surface?
We print on a semi-gloss white flood that is hub printable.

When and how do I receive the PDF proof?
Once your place your order and upload your artwork, you will receive a PDF proof within one hour for your approval. The project timeline does not start until you have approved your proof.

If I use the same artwork on my disc face as the printed insert will the color match?
We do not recommend using the same artwork on the disc face as you are using on the printed insert that goes along with your disc. Disc faces are inkjet printed. Inserts are offset printed on a conventional state-of-the-art commercial printing press. It is best to change the artwork so that it is clear that you did not intend that they match. If you still want to use the same artwork for design reasons that's no problem. Just be aware that they will not match.

What resolution is best for uploaded artwork?
For best results, save your pictures at 300 dpi (dots per inch) and your other artwork at the highest resolution available (600 dpi is OK but our equipment will utilize up to 2400 dpi). Do not save pictures at resolutions higher than 300 dpi because this just slows down the process and does not improve the image quality. We recommend the following formats for upload: PDF, TIFF, JPEG, and Photoshop EPS. Please be certain to include all fonts in your files. All artwork should be CMYK not RGB or something else. Do not convert fonts to curves. This can severely limit the quality of the type and will not trap well. Please call our experienced staff with any questions.

What file format do I need to save my artwork?
We prefer to have your Adobe Illustrator files saved as EPS, your Photoshop as PSD, and all other software as PDF (High Quailty). When saving your work, remember to raster/outline your fonts. Right after doing that, save your file as a new name. Once they are ratsered or outlined, you will not be able to edit the text. If you are having any problems, please contact your Project Manager for assistance.

Your master

Do you copy my disc exactly as I send it?
Yes. Take extra care to insure that your disc is exactly as you want it to be. We do not alter your disc in any way before we duplicate or replicate it.

How many master disc copies should I send with my project?
We recommend that you send two original masters with any project submitted for replication or duplication. Often one master can be flawed in some way (scratch, etc) and this gives us a backup disc to use. Otherwise the production process stops while we wait for you to send us another disc. This of course can delay the production process and could threaten your deadline.

What do I need to send with a disc duplication/replication project?
We need two copies of your original disc just the way you want it copied. In addition we need a completed IPR form that shows who owns the rights to the content on the disc that you want to have copied. Finally we need a track listing showing the song names and times for CDs with music on them. If you are ordering a complete package then we also need artwork for the insert, traycard, and disc face. There are templates for these items on the website under the specs and templates button.

Do I need a barcode on my project?
This is up to you.  If you are selling your package at a retail store or online, most require that your product has a UPC barcode on the package.  If this is a promo piece or for non-resale, then a barcode might not be necessary.

How much space should I leave for a barcode?
All of our templates include a barcode safe area when designing your packaging.

Is there a font size limitation for printing on the face of the disc?
We recommend 9 point type or larger on disc faces. You should also try to use readable type that does not have tiny lines or curls on the font face. These can be difficult to read. Another thing to remember is to keep the type at lease 1/4 away from the edge of the disc. Otherwise it may be cut off as the disc shifts slightly on duplication type production.

What disc face printing options are available for disc duplication?
We offer black text or full color on a flood white hub printable semi-gloss surface.

Printing

Can I choose specific paper types for my print products?
onediscmore prints flyers, brochures, posters, CD and DVD inserts/traycards, stitched books, and promo flyers on a super high grade of 65# gloss cover paper. Postcards, pocket folders, CD and DVD sleeves and heavy duty posters/flyers are printed on 15 pt C2S (C2S means coated two sides.

What type of finishing is offered for my print products?
We offer free aqueous coating on all 100# gloss text printing (both sides). We also aqueous coat one side of all 15 pt C2S projects.

What is aqueous coating?
Aqueous coating is a protective coating that we put on most of our printed pieces. The coating helps keep finger prints off of the print and resists rubbing. It also makes the images pop off of the page.
